Global Service Learning in the Galapagos

The Galapagos Islands have long been steeped in a kind of ecological lore. What you will discover on these volcanic islands that straddle the equator are untouched beaches, little known flora, and rare, endemic species.

Learn

You can expect opportunities to snorkel with sharks, see blue-footed boobies and sea lions in the wild, and tour some of the island’s many environmental and ecological centers to learn more about issues such as sustainable fishing, Darwin and his theories, and the spectacular fauna and flora of this intriguing chain of islands.

Hands-on, immersive cultural learning opportunities include an excursion to visit the Charles Darwin Research Center and Tortuga Bay, excursions to Volcan Chicos in the Sierra Negras, exploring the Tintoreros via kayak, and learning about coffee making and production in the fincas of this ecologically diverse landscape.

Serve

By working alongside host community and partner organizations we ensure that our service efforts are effectively meeting the needs of the local inhabitants and community. Service projects focus areas include community initiatives such as sustainable farming, urban agriculture, English language tutoring, and a variety of projects related to Galapagos tortoise and sea turtle conservation efforts.
